2004 Hall of Fame Inductees UMPIRE
Bob Corbin

Like the other men honored today as umpires, Bob Corbin was a good ballplayer before moving behind the plate as a baseball and softball arbiter. Corbin began playing fastpitch softball in the mid-1940s and retired in 1951. A left-hander, he was a good defensive first baseman and slap hitter. His final two seasons as a player came with the Irwin Jones Dodgers, the area’s top team at that time. Corbin turned his love for the game into a passion for umpiring, and he excelled in that role. For many years, he handled many of the top baseball and softball games in the Tacoma area.
