Larry "Cot" Zehnder

An infielder and catcher, Larry “Cot” Zehnder was a star player for several Tacoma area fastpitch teams. After graduating from Sumner High School, he played baseball for three years and earned his degree from St. Martin’s College. Zehnder then started his fastpitch career, playing for Sumner AC and manager Al Moffat from 1957-61. In the following years he played for Hygrade, Cammarano Rainiers, Tacoma Athletics and VFW. While with the Athletics he earned Northwest League all-star honors as a catcher. Zehnder, who was born on July 26, 1933 helped three of his teams advance to regional tournament play, twice in Portland and once in Pocatello, Idaho.
