Ken Laase

He came from Ballard High and Seattle Pacific University to teach at Franklin Pierce high school and become a recreation specialist. He gained all-state honors in basketball in high school and twice was all-city in baseball. At SPU he played four years of baseball and two of basketball. In slowpitch he hit more than .550 every year and was an MVP at eight different tournaments. He also made the regional all-star team five times. In 1981 he started umpiring and he is a member of the USSSA Hall of Fame. The slowpitch teams he played for include Eagle Paper Box, Heidelberg (five years), Wested Tire and Shaub Ellison, among the best in local history.
