Larry Marshall, a 1970 graduate of Clover Park High School, led Charles Wright Academy to a 29-0 record and the Class A state championship in 1980.
After graduating from CPHS, Marshall attended Washington State University, where he served as an assistant coach for two seasons. He took over the baseball coaching job at Charles Wright in 1976, leading the school to three consecutive second place Nisqually League finishes.
The 1979 and 1981 squads won league, district and regional titles before finishing second at state. It was the 1980 that team broke through with an unbeaten season and state championship. While at Charles Wright Academy, Marshall was named Nisqually League Coach of the Year three times and Washington State Coach of the year twice.
He served as head coach at Spanaway Lake High for two seasons, turning a cellar-dwelling program into Pierce County League champions, before moving on to the college ranks.
Marshall enjoyed a 19-year coaching career at Pacific Lutheran 1994.
