2003 Hall of Fame Inductees BASEBALL
Ron Billings

his football and basketball achievements may have overshadowed his baseball career but Ron was one of the best high school, college and amateur players in Tacoma-Pierce County. He covered centerfield for Lincoln high, Pacific Lutheran, (where he was All-Evergreen Conference), and Olde Pilsner, Western State Hospital, and the Stanley's Shoemen of the City and Valley leagues. He was a standout defensively and consistently batted over .300 at every level of play. In football he was a Little All-America defensive back at PLC, he was a three-sport star in both college and high school, and his basketball coaching record ranks among the all-time best in this area. In 16 years at Lincoln his Abes earned 11 state tournament appearances, winning it all in 1975 and placing second twice. He was named the state's Coach of The Year for 75-76. He also coached Tacoma Community College cagers to three Northwest C.C. championships in six years and the Tacoma Cheney Studs to the Northwest AAU title.
