James Oleole

Born August 27, 1927 in Hawaii. Graduated from McKinley HS in 1945. Played baseball, softball, and football while in the U.S. Army from 1955-62 and then began his officiating career while in the military. "Ole" coached the Lakes and Foss summer basketball teams and numerous recreational volleyball teams. In 1973 Jim was one of the first officials in Tacoma to help create a volleyball officiating organization. He refereed numerous state high school volleyball tournaments in addition to countless regional and state tournaments in slowpitch and baseball. Ole possessed a great work ethic when umpiring and was well known for his hustle on the field when it wasn't unusual to see him outrun a batter from home to first to make the call.
