Dave Van Hulle

Dave Van Hulle came to Tacoma from Oronto, Wisconsin, courtesy of the United States Air Force. From 1963 to 1984 he was one of the more highly regarded umpires in the Tacoma area and he served as the President of the Western Washing-tan Umpires Association. Van Hulle also played and coached. He played two years of semi-pro baseball in Wisconsin before joining the Puyallup Indian team in Tacoma in 1952-53. Then he played softball far NFFE in both '54 and '55. From 1966 to 1970 he coached the Soinie's Girls Softball team and other youth teams including the Rogers High School girls football team. His service to youth and adult baseball and softball teams in Tacoma-Pierce County over the years was considerable.
